The award ceremony of the first Emile Awards, presented by the association of the European Animation Awards, was held at Le Nouveau Siècle in Lille, France on 8th December 2017.

The Emile Awards selects the best animation titles of the year in 16 categories from across Europe.

2. Lotte Reiniger Lifetime Achievement Award

The European Animation Awards association (EAA) announced their new annual award, named “The Lotte Reiniger Lifetime Achievement Award”, which rewards an individual in recognition of his or her lifetime outstanding contribution to the art of animation.

The Board of the EAA rewarded the legendary Canadian-British animator and director Richard Williams for his entire career achievements.

During the first Emile Awards ceremony on 8th December 2017, Richard Williams was greeted by a standing ovation and received his trophy from Peter Lord as the first recipient of the Lotte Reiniger Lifetime Achievement Award.
