Here is the list of European film festivals and pitching events in 2022 that are calling for entries now, for you to submit your animation works or projects.

Notice:
– Please check the official websites of each event carefully, as we cannot guarantee that the information in this article will be all accurate and up to date.

List of European animation events


Cinemira International Children’s and Youth Film Festival 2022 (website)

(A film festival in Hungary: Cinemira TEEN (from 7th to 9th October 2022) and Cinemira KIDS (21st and 22th October 2022))

  • Animated Short Films for Children (released after 1st January 2020 / up to 15 minutes) can be submitted for the festival.
  • Animated Short Films for Teens (released after 1st January 2020 / up to 30 minutes) can be submitted for the festival.
  • Animated Feature Films for Teens (released after 1st January 2020 / above 70 minutes) can be submitted for the festival.

The entry deadlines for the festival are:

  • Early Bird (€10 fee) 28th February
  • Regular (€15 fee) 30th April
  • Last Minute (€20 fee) 31st May

Warsaw International Film Festival 2022 (website)

(A film festival from 14th to 23rd October 2022 in Poland)

  • Short films (first public screening on or after 1st January, 2022 / maximum running time 40 minutes) can be submitted for the Short Film Competition.
  • Feature films (first public screening on or after 1st January, 2022 / over 60 minutes running time) can be submitted for Feature Film Competition.

The entry deadlines and submission fees are:
Submission fees for films submitted by 15th July 2022 are:
– €15 per short film
– €35 per feature length film
Submission fees for films submitted between 16th and 31st July 2022 are:
– €25 per short film
– €50 per feature length film

Anifilm 2022 (website) -closed-

(A film festival from 10th to 15th May 2022 in Czech Republic)

  • Short films (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the International Competition of Animated Short Films, International Competition of Student Animated Films, International Competition of Music Videos, International competition of Abstract and Non-narrative Animation, and Czech Horizon (national competition). The deadline is 31st December 2021.
  • Feature films (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the International Competition of Animated Feature Films, as well as the Czech Horizon (national competition). The deadline is 31st December 2021.
  • VR/360°/interactive projects (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the International Competition of VR films. The deadline is 31st December 2021.

Animation Production Days 2022 (website) -closed-

(A co-production and financing market for animation from 4th to 6th May 2022 in Germany)

  • Producer Programme: Producers can present an animation project at Animation Production Days 2022. The application will only become effective if the submitted project has been selected for participation at APD 2022 (the selection will take place on 7th March at the latest) and the participation fee will only be charged to the producers of the selected projects.
    • The deadline is 21st February 2022.
    • Fees (including Hybrid Tickets for ITFS & Online Tickets for FMX):
      • Early Bird: €500 (until 31st January 2022)
      • Regular: €600
  • Producers for Co-Production Programme (online only): Producers of animation studios, VFX studios, etc., can negotiate for co-production with the producers of the submitted projects.
    • The deadline is 21st February 2022.
    • Fee (including Online Tickets for ITFS & FMX): €85
  • Investor Programme: Investors (broadcasters, streamers, distributors, world distributors, publishers, funding institutions and other investors in the media) can meet and discuss with the producers of the selected projects.
    • The deadline is 11th March 2022.
    • Fees (Including Hybrid Tickets for ITFS & Online Tickets for FMX):
      • Early Bird: €250 (until 31st January 2022)
      • Regular: €300
  • Talent Programme: Young producer or creator teams (maximum of two people / 35 years-old and under / European graduates of universities and film schools with a focus on animation, or young professionals, or company founders) can contact with established experts in the industry including potential co-production and financing partners of their ideas, have one-to-one meetings, and receive valuable feedback on their projects. This programme will facilitate your first steps in the international market.
    • The deadline is 21st February 2022.
    • Free accreditation.
    • Free accommodation in Stuttgart (up to 4 nights).

CEE Animation Forum 2022 (website) -closed-

(A pitching, financing and co-production event from 10th to 12th May 2022 in Czech Republic)

You can submit your animated projects for traditional pitching competitions in 5 categories below. The deadline is 16th January 2022.

  • Feature Films (minimum length of 60 minutes / in concept, in development or in production)
  • Series and TV Specials (web and TV series of any format and single films / minimum length of 20 minutes / all stages of development except for concept stage)
  • Short Films (maximum length of 20 minutes / all stages of development except for concept stage)
  • Rising Stars (student short films / maximum length of 20 minutes / all stages of development except for concept stage)
  • XR immersive media (VR, AR, 360° and other immersive formats / in development or in production)

You can submit on their online submission form. There is no registration fee for submitting your application.


International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR 2022 (website) -closed-

(A film festival from 8th to 15th July 2022 in Poland)

  • Short films (completed after 31st December 2019 / up to 30 minutes) can be submitted for the International Animated Short Film Competition (Prizes are: Golden Animusz, Silver Animusz, Bronze Animusz and Audience Award for the Best Polish Film). The deadline is 14th February 2022.
  • Short films (completed after 31st December 2020 / up to 30 minutes) can be submitted for the Polish Animated Short Film Competition ANIMATOR.PL. The deadline is 14th February 2022.
  • Feature films (completed after 31st December 2019 / above 40 minutes) can be submitted for the International Animated Feature Film Competition (Prizes are: Best Feature Film Award and Audience Award for the Best Feature Film). The deadline is 14th February 2022.
  • Animated series (completed after 31st December 2019 / dedicated for single episodes of TV and online series) can be submitted for the International Animated Series Competition (Prizes are: Best Animated Series Award and Audience Award for the Best Series episode). The deadline is 14th February 2022.

World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb 2022 (website) -closed-

(A film festival from 6th to 11th June 2022 in Croatia)

  • Short films (completed after 1st January 2021 / maximum running time 40 minutes) can be submitted for the Short Film Competition, Student Film Competition, Films for Children Competition and Croatian Film Competition. The deadline is 1st February.
  • Feature films (completed after 1st January 2021 / minimum running time 40 minutes) can be submitted for Feature Film Competition. The deadline is 15th March 2022.
  • VR/360°/interactive projects (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the VR Animation Competition. The deadline is 15th March 2022.

Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market 2022 (website) -closed-

(A film festival and market from 13th to 18th June 2022 in France)

  • Short Films (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the festival. The deadline is 15th February 2022.
  • TV Films (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the festival. The deadline is 15th February 2022.
  • Commissioned Films and web series (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the festival. The deadline is 15th February 2022.
  • Graduation Films (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the festival. The deadline is 15th February 2022.
  • Feature Films (completed after 1st January 2021 / over 60 mins / have not been commercially exploited in France before 19th June 2022) can be submitted for the festival. The deadline is 15th March 2022.
  • VR Works (completed after 1st January 2021) can be submitted for the festival. The deadline is 6th April 2022.
  • Animation projects in development can be submitted for the Mifa pitches. The deadline is 8th February 2022.
