The World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb announced to postpone the date of this year’s 30th anniversary from their original schedule (from 8th to 13th June) due to the presence of COVID-19 and the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Zagreb. The new festival dates are from 28th September to 3rd October this year.
The 30th anniversary of “World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb” will be held this year in Zagreb, Croatia. Animafest Zagreb is one of the most important animation festivals in the world, contributing to the global animation industry for many years as the second oldest animation film festival in the world. Programme Highlights
1. Special Programme ‘Animafest Insights’
Animafest Zagreb announced to all animation lovers, who are awaiting the new dates of the festival, an attractive new programme titled ‘Animafest Insights’. It is a series of special interview videos to give the broader public an insight into the great films that have been screened at the festival.
2. Film Competition
Grand Competition – Shot Film (List of the selected films)
Awards:
– Grand Prix – Short Film (best short film of the festival) – cash award of 2,500 €
– Golden Zagreb (for creativity and innovative artistic achievement) – cash award of 2,000 €
– Zlatko Grgić (best first film production apart from educational institutions) – cash award of 1,500 €
– Mr. M – Short Film, audience award

Award: Dušan Vukotić (best student film) – cash award of €1,000

3. World Panorama
A diverse non-competitive selection of original and innovative titles that cross the boundaries of animation (List of the selected films).
4. Best Animation School Award
On 30th June, the festival announced that its “Student Film Competition” selection committee chose “The Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź” as the winner of the “Best Animation School Award” at 30th Animafest Zagreb. Three films from the school were selected for this year’s “Student Films Competition”: Marbles (by Natalia Spychala), Portrait of a Woman (by Natalia Durszewicz) and The Little Soul (by Barbara Rupik).
